A successful shop requires more than <strong>core production machines</strong>. The factory itself must have equipment to service its needs and the needs of the operators. General plant support equipment keeps the production line safe, clean, and comfortable. In order to function at peak capacity and maximize productivity, core machinery must be augmented with certain types of auxiliary equipment. These kinds of equipment are responsible for moving product from one part of the factory to another or supplying power and raw materials to each machine. The correct support equipment can mean the difference between profitability and breaking even. Support equipment includes, but is not limited to, air conditioning units, gantry cranes, oil/water separators, air compressors, battery chargers, and forklifts.
